Updates

So I'm on some kind of blogging streak and this is the third entry that I've written at this wee hours of the night. HAHA.

I decided that I needed to keep writing for the sake of fine-tuning my writing and also to do something productive beside reading books about sales. Ugh.

Speaking of which, yes, I started work. Almost 3 months ago actually, on the 6.6.16. #illuminati? - asked no one. I'm actually working for a conference production company that focuses on Internet of Things in the ASEAN market, so if you're interested in the field, hit me up and do look at some of the things I've been writing on my LinkedIn account (on which I've been very active on. Weirdly lol). Work has been picking up and now is officially the super stressful period because my event is coming up next, and approaching huge corporations and government ministries for my first project are definitely not easy tasks - but hey, personal growth and all that, right?

Other than that, life's been, well, interesting. Lots of crazy downs and some ups, but generally I think I've grown quite a bit through all my experience that I've had over the past few months with regards to different aspects in life. Went to my grad trip in Indonesia for 17 days, went back to Vietnam twice for family and work, went to Indonesia again and Malaysia for work - all within the past 4 months. Can't complain, right?

For once, I'm living outside of my comfort zone so much it's scary and I don't think I've been very fast at learning and adapting. Sometimes it can be overwhelming (cue Beyoncé gif) but there's no choice but up.

Gonna try to update this blog more often. In the meantime, I'm doing some kind-of writing challenge whereby I aim to write 4 posts a week over at my new blog (where I'll have a mix of personal and social commentary and that sort of writings), so check it out at this super lame URL: http://dinhnersready.wordpress.com.

My writing is getting worse, signalling time for bed. Good night!

Here's a photo of my super cool customised Starbucks tumbler. Just because.

It's another New Year!

If you know me, you know that I don't usually do new year's resolutions. Because what is time but a social construct? Like ok, I see the point, and if it helps to motivate people into doing things, good for them. But I've never been the kind of person that is able to follow through with something if I plan them too rigorously. But then again, now that I'm 5.5 years into the corporate life, I realise that planning is important, and not even for the kind of big picture capitalist goals/visions/missions thing that companies do, but even for the day to day kind of work, because of how technologies have created this need to be super 'efficient' and 'productive'. Sometimes I wish that writing a blog post like this could be considered 'productive' as well in this capitalist world, because then I may be more motivated to write more than one post per year. Remember the time that I wanted to write one blog post per week and I wrote like 5 posts? Lol. Anywa

Life in quarantine

Ah hello, it's been a while. Not that anyone visits this blog anymore lol. But it's still good to be able to write things out some time. So we're entering the third week of lockdown here in Singapore. Yes it is a lockdown despite what the formal term is. And me, being a good citizen and law-abiding non-Singaporean, is staying at home. Thank you e-commerce and delivery services (as well as frontliners and health workers, of course). It's interesting to see how things are panning out, at least from the way people are reacting to this. For me personally, I really don't mind being at home for most of my week, but I do enjoy the very rare trips to the convenience stores nearby or just to check my mails downstairs. I've grown increasingly lazy to even go out to a supermarket and buy actual grocery - luckily my roommates will be happy to help. Generally I do feel that people are frustrated because they don't have a choice - das ist nicht freiwillig! (Yes I
